Concept Rocket Designs for the BAR

What is a "Concept Design"?

Simply put, it is an idea that has been put down on paper -- or in this case, into a digital image form -- for presentation to others. The design has not been flight-tested, and may not have even been built into a physical model. It is offered more as a "What If", a suggestion of what can be done with the components that are available.

If you decide to build one of these designs and it is actually flown, we would very much like to hear from you. Let us know what changes you needed to make for the model to be flyable, if any, so that we can make the necessary changes to the plan sheets and put them into the "Flight Proven" area.

You can buy parts to build these designs at:
Semroc Astronautics Corporation
Balsa Machining Service
Totally Tubular
FlisKits, Inc.
Sunward Aerospace Group Limited

NOTE -- If you're having problems opening any of the files by clicking on them, it's more than likely due to your browser not setup to display TIFF files.  Instead of left clicking the link, right click the link of the file you want.  Choose to "Save Target As" from the menu that pops up.  You can then save the file directly to your hard drive where you can open it with your favorite image editor.

AKA Flying Torpedo, or "Aeropedo". Good example of a sick idea gone horribly wrong, this was supposed to be a spinning football-shaped rocket that morphed into a totally different concept. Such is modrockery. Fly this exclusively on E15-4, F39-6, or F21W-6.

Skill Level 3. Not for beginners.

Scimitaur The Scimitaur is heavily influenced by the Astron Gyroc, but without the 'helicopter recovery' method, and with some interesting fiddly bits.
Paint scheme is meant to resemble the Shadow Ships from B5. Totally evil, totally nasty, totally high-luster black...
